Manchester City Centre: the new hotspot for FTBS

There was a time when the city centre was thought to be a place where only young professionals, career-driven businessmen and people of a managerial status could reside.

There was a time when the city centre was thought to be a place where only young professionals, career-driven businessmen and people of a managerial status could reside. However, recent findings have revealed that more FTBS than ever before are now looking to move to the city centre, as property prices are becoming increasingly more affordable.

The population within Manchester city centre has grown considerably over the past ten years, with a 19% rise in figures, which accounts for the highest percentage growth outside of London.

Manchester is currently undergoing a period of intense regeneration, with major plans of up to £1 million submitted for the town hall complex and a £113 million regeneration scheme throughout the Greater Manchester area, making it a desirable place to invest.

During the past decade, there has also been significant development within key areas of the city centre including: Ancoats, Castlefield, the Northern Quarter and New Islington. The improvement of transport facilities and an influx of modern bars and restaurants have vastly improved the livelihood of such areas and the city’s increasing number of young residents and 24 hour status has also enhanced the standard of living.

Whilst Manchester has expanded, it is currently more accessible than ever before with a number of amenities within walking distance. A vast amount of people who reside in the city centre take advantage of the efficient public transport which makes it easy to access any part of the city quickly, without having the expense of running a car.

Manchester has a vast array of attractions with a wide variety of bars and restaurants open till late and the best shopping facilities within the U.K. It has all the benefits of a vibrant European metropolis and property almost half the price of that in London, making it an affordable prospect for first time buyers.

In today’s society, more people are keen to invest in modern developments as they need less money spending on them upfront and are more economically efficient. However, it is not just the attraction of modern properties but also the buzz and proximity of the city centre, with its falling crime rates, major universities and world famous football clubs that are contributing to its highly desirable status.
