The Northern Quarter
Area Guide

What The Northern Quarter has to offer
The trendy, Bohemian area known as the Northern Quarter is popular both with young professionals and students who want to be in the thick of all that is happening now in Manchester. With a wealth of independent bars and restaurants woven within the many streets all of which have their very own individual identity.
The Northern Quarter has some of the most amazing apartments in Manchester; Smithfield Buildings raised the bar selling the first £300,000 apartment in Manchester in 1996 and people even slept outside for days to be the first to buy these unique apartments! A similar approach happened at 25 Church Street, the Conran designed apartments, The Burton Buildings is one of the smaller developments in the area and had a very successful marketing campaign in conjunction with the Manchester Giants who showed off how impressive the tall doors were as they could fit through them!
There are many apartments hidden away on Tib Street as well as some of the very few townhouses in Manchester. There’s something for everyone in the Northern Quarter from gyms to convenience stores on your doorstep and the well-known “Afflecks” the Northern Quarter offers the quirk and charm not found in other parts of the city. Located close to the main shopping area, there is a constant supply of buses and easy access to the tram.
Both Piccadilly Train station and Bus Station are only a short walk away. By car, the ring road is easily accessible linking to the M56 and Manchester International Airport.
Julie’s view on the Northern Quarter
