Spring is Coming: Time to Create a Fresher, Brighter Home

Spring is Coming: Time to Create a Fresher, Brighter Home

Now that we’re in March, spring seems to be beginning to come out in full bloom! The days are longer, the sun is shining more brightly, and the daffodils and tulips are emerging in gardens all over the land. It’s the perfect time to consider a spring clean.

But perhaps this year you want to do more than deep clean; perhaps you want to declutter properly and make some style changes to your home. At Julie Twist Properties, we want to help you to freshen up your property, 2017 style.

    1. Inject a little “hygge” into your home.

The eagle-eyed among you won’t have failed to notice that this latest Scandinavian trend has hit our shores. Pronounced ‘hue-gah’, the Danish concept is all about making our houses cosy, comforting and inviting. Think soothing candles, snuggly blankets and deep-pile rugs – perfect to keep the lingering chill off until summer!

    2. Bring the outside in.

If you want to really step into spring, then update your houseplants. You could go for big and leafy statement plants or for small, pretty blooms in beautiful pots. All this can get expensive, of course – but you can get the feel by placing some cut flowers in recycled jars around your home, too!

    3. Reach for the paint pots

Want a cheap, quick and easy way to transform your place? How about repainting one wall in each room? Choose bold, striking colours like yellow and turquoise to really capture the spring feel. Finish off with some new accessories to match each room.

    4. Let the sunshine flow!

During the winter months when we see little of Mr Sunshine, it’s easy to block out light by accident – we want to insulate every nook and cranny, making our homes warm and letting us hibernate. But now’s the time to take down the blinds and tidy the windowsills. You should find that shafts of light really lift your mood! You could even go further and add some new mirrors to your walls to reflect that gorgeous spring sunlight.

    5. Create some artwork

Another way to cheer up your home is to adorn the walls with art – and why not create your own to add a sense of individuality? Try some leaf and flower printing for an abstract approach – you can even get the kids involved here! No time to get creative? Pretty prints can be picked up for next to nothing these days, so get searching online for options.

And our final tip? Make sure you take some time to sit back and enjoy your handiwork once you’ve finished – it’s all about crafting a space that you want to spend time in and that you’re excited to return to at the end of a long day!

Does your property need a spruce up or a deep clean but you’re short on time and skills? Why not contact the Julie Twist maintenance team for a decorating quote?
